How do I make my own laundry detergent using ash?

  • Sift the ash to remove large particles and residues
  • Bring 2 litres of water to the boil in a large saucepan
  • Pour the ash into the pan of boiling water
  • Leave to rest for 24 hours, stirring regularly
  • Strain your mixture
  • Optional: Add a few drops of essential oil to give the laundry a pleasant scent
  • Pour the mixture into a container (ideally a clean, empty washing-up liquid bottle)
  • The washing is ready!
