What are the benefits of heating your home with wood?

More energy-efficient and more environmentally friendly?

Wood fuel is a local resource that is sourced and utilised within a short supply chain, with limited supply ranges. The firewood used to fuel our heating appliances remains within the regional area of production, often at distances of less than 100 km, unlike fossil fuels, which often come from distant countries. Consequently, the environmental costs associated with the production, processing and transport of wood energy are limited.
Currently, 2,900 companies generate more than 14,000 direct and indirect jobs across France.

Wood offers a wide range of options

First of all, there is a wide range of appliances to choose from: stoves, inserts or fireplaces, cookers, boilers and even hybrid stoves… Wood offers a wealth of options for a system tailored to the layout of your home and your needs.
Next, a wide range of fuels (logs, wood pellets, wood chips or wood shavings), to meet all your needs and address all your constraints (supply, storage, autonomy…).

Wood offers excellent value for money

Wood is one of the most economical energy sources on the market and is also one of the most efficient heating methods available today. High-quality firewood, combined with a certified flue and a high-efficiency stove, delivers excellent performance.

Wood is environmentally friendly (CO₂ released = CO₂ absorbed)

Combustion efficiency has improved, leading to a reduction in pollutant emissions. Wood-burning heaters bearing the Flamme Verte label currently available on the market are both more energy-efficient and more environmentally friendly. Compared with some appliances installed before 2000, efficiency has increased by at least 30%, whilst carbon monoxide emissions have been reduced by a factor of 10.

Wood is cosy

The firewood available in shops is ready to use. There’s no need to get the axe out or store it for two years to let it dry. It is dry (less than 20% moisture content), already split, clean and cut to size, making it easier to handle.
Firewood is available throughout the country all year round in various forms (in bags, in bundles, in bulk). It is easy to find in shops, but you can also order it online for direct home delivery.

What is its energy value?

HIGH-QUALITY FUEL + HIGH-EFFICIENCY WOOD-BURNING APPLIANCE + CERTIFIED INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE = OPTIMAL ENERGY PERFORMANCE

With the Energy Transition for Green Growth Act adopted in 2015, France has committed to achieving a 32% share of renewable energy in its gross final energy consumption, with a sub-target of 38% renewable energy in final heat consumption by 2030.
The climate emergency we face requires us to accelerate the shift in our energy mix towards renewable energy, replacing fossil fuels, and wood energy has a vital role to play.
