HWAM® Autopilot™: Fire Made Easy
With HWAM® Autopilot™, enjoying a fire is as simple as it is efficient. This 100% mechanical automatic air control system continuously adjusts the air supply within the stove based on the combustion temperature, thanks to an ingeniously integrated heat-sensitive spring.
No need to intervene: the stove manages the air required for each phase of combustion on its own, ensuring optimal, consistent, and economical heating. The result? Less fuel consumption and cleaner combustion, benefiting both your budget and the environment.
Another advantage: by reducing soot and ash production, HWAM® Autopilot™ makes it easier to maintain the stove and flue.

Heat storage: Long-lasting heat from HWAM (optional)
As an option, the 5580C is equipped with a built-in thermal compartment that holds a large amount of soapstone, known for its ability to store heat and then release it slowly. Once the wood has burned out, heat continues to radiate gradually into the room, providing consistent warmth for up to 14 hours after the fire has gone out.

A manual convection damper allows you to adjust the storage efficiency to suit your needs: by closing the air intake to the thermal compartment, you extend the duration of heat release; by opening it, you promote faster diffusion throughout the room.

To operate, a wood-burning or pellet stove requires oxygen. Rather than drawing air from the room, our units can be connected to an outside air intake, ensuring efficient combustion without compromising indoor air quality.
This “closed-loop” technology allows the appliance to draw fresh air directly from outside the home via a dedicated duct or a triple-wall flue.

The HWAM outdoor air intake kit ensures your stove receives a constant and controlled supply of fresh air, which is essential for clean, efficient, and safe combustion. Thanks to this system, the air needed for combustion is drawn directly from outside the home through a duct that passes through the wall and is channeled to the heart of the stove.
